Interesting topic. Ironically I was thinking about this recently. I was noticing that the more content I am with my life, the less I feel the urge to travel. And that when I do travel it doesn't have to be super extravagant anymore to bring me joy. A quick day trip into nature gets the job done.
Yes, that's how i feel as well BB. I'm not so itchy to roam as I once was.
Our travel is largely driven by Bill's itchy feet. I do hope it doesn't mean he's discontent with his life! I think he is perhaps catching up with the Jones or somebody, having only been able to travel in the past ... 18 years? No idea what that is about. I am mainly motivated to travel to the US / AU to visit family and friends every 3 or 4 years. Everything else is 'conspicuous consumption' and 'conspicuous leisure'. I love being at home and would probably prefer to have a 'summer home' to escape Britain's most dismal (to me) season. Maybe one day...
Pao - maybe it is age related? I can't figure out if it is because I'm older or I am simply more content. I guess both. :)Shelley - I don't count travelling to visit family/friends as travelling. I agree, travel really falls under conspicuous consumption and tell my children not long ago leisure travel used to be only for the priveleged . Now an annual holiday is practically expected.
