I ran into our real estate person today and he was quoting from Marcus Aurelius. And now I see I have another book to read. That rug reminds me of one I have that belonged to my grandparents.
FS - Meditations by Marcus Aurelius is available for free online. The Epictetus book I give as university graduation gifts along with Your Money or Your Life in hopes of preempting a life of empty consumerism.
I wonder what each of us would put in our own Manuals for Living?
I can use some advice (perspective taking) from a wise philosopher, especially on the matter of living a happy & fulfilled life.
ExactingL - I've thought about that many times and have concluded I have no conclusions. Sometimes others will ask for parenting advice and my only response is it is impossible to know what is best for any child until much later in life and even then you still don't know what the alternative choices would have offered up!Yuko - can't we all! :)
FrugalS - that rug is one of the few things in the house that was purchased new. And I wouldn't buy it again even though I like it. It was an impetuous decision during a trip to Turkey. I find I regret most of my purchases. :(
